Clay claddings ?

The benefits

EARTH CLADDING, AN INNOVATIVE AND CREATIVE FINISHe

The qualities of raw earth are now widely recognised, thanks to the work of activist professionals in various disciplines (craftspeople, artists, architects, engineers, researchers, project managers, etc.).
This ‘Parementerre’ solution is another way of using a material that is both noble and modest.

There are many reasons for your choice:

For everyone's health

Clay-based plasters have been around for as long as mankind has been building shelters. Throughout the world, clay is the most abundant and evenly distributed resource. It is healthy, easy to extract, use and destroy. Its use is virtuous, there is a real coherence between the benefits of its use and the impact we have on the environment.

No demolition, no dust

It is often necessary to remove old coatings in order to obtain a good bond between rendering and a wall. With ‘Parementerre’, this demolition stage is eliminated, so there’s no dust and rubble to dispose of. Quite an advantage in an already inhabited area, where access is difficult and neighbourly relations need to be preserved!

No drying time

As the modules are already dry when delivered to the site, there are no drying time constraints. There is no need to anticipate any humidity build-up inside the dwelling or ventilation period. This means that the work can be carried out independently of the seasons and the weather.

Moveable

Parementerre can be dismantled at will. In other words, they can be reused in another space. This opens up the possibility of treating yourself to earthen renderings, even if you’re renting or planning to move one day.

For speed of installation

Prefabricated in the workshop, the modules are fixed to simple wooden uprights in front of the wall to be lined. This solution eliminates the need for the demanding protection required on conventional plastering sites, saving considerable time and waste.
Moreover, conventional plastering generally requires several coats and relatively long drying times. These stages are already carried out in the workshop before we arrive on site, which reduces the time it takes to work on your premises to between 1 and 3 days. (Less travel, less fuel)

For insulation

Natural fibre wools (sheep, wood, hemp, etc.) are very good thermal and acoustic insulators, but are too flexible to be coated directly.
One of the advantages of ‘Parementerre’ is that insulation can be inserted between the uprights to which the modules are then fixed. This forms an elegant finish, adding to the insulation the qualities of raw earth such as inertia, moisture regulation and, of course, sensual aesthetics.

For inertia

Earth is a relatively heavy material, which helps to smooth out temperature differences. As a result, it helps to improve indoor comfort and is a perfect complement to the performance of a well-insulated house, such as a timber-framed house.

avantages acoustiquesFor acoustics

The load-bearing structure of ‘Parementerre’, which is separate from the existing walls, and the alternation of soft materials (insulation) and hard materials (claddings) provide a good acoustic solution.
In addition, the space left between the cladding modules absorbs airborne sound. Comfort to be taken into account in areas open to the public.

Scalable

Using a modular solution means you can replace one element with another at any time.
